What We Cover

Food Allergies We Cover

More than 32 million Americans live with food allergies, and that number is growing. For decades the only advice was avoidance. There is more on the table now, but most families never get it explained to them properly. That is the gap we fill: we walk you through the options for your specific allergy and get you in front of a board-certified allergist who can tell you what is realistic for you.

Affects ~2.5% of US children

Peanuts

The most studied allergen when it comes to building tolerance. Peanut allergy can cause severe reactions from trace amounts, which makes it one of the most feared. It is also the one families most often have options for. An allergist can tell you where you stand.

Milk/Dairy

The most common food allergy in children under 5. Many children outgrow it, but not all do. For those who do not, it is worth asking an allergist what options exist rather than assuming avoidance is the only path.

Hidden in: bread, processed meats, non-dairy products (casein), medications

Fish

Fish allergy often develops in adulthood and is typically lifelong. It differs from shellfish allergy — being allergic to fish does not necessarily mean you are allergic to shellfish, and vice versa.

Crustacean Shellfish

The most common adult-onset food allergy. Includes shrimp, crab, lobster, and crawfish. Shellfish allergy tends to be lifelong and reactions can be severe.

Wheat

Distinct from celiac disease (autoimmune) and gluten sensitivity. Wheat allergy is a true IgE-mediated allergy that triggers an immune response and requires different care than celiac or gluten intolerance.

Soybeans
