5-Step OIT Process

How EatFreely Works

Oral immunotherapy (OIT) works by gradually introducing tiny amounts of the allergen to your immune system, training it to tolerate the food over time. Under the supervision of our board-certified allergists, patients build up their tolerance safely — until they can enjoy food without fear.

1

Free Consultation

Your journey begins with a free consultation — virtual from anywhere in the US, or in person at any of our 8 Houston-area clinics. You'll meet with a board-certified allergist to discuss your allergy history, current concerns, and treatment goals. We'll answer all your questions and help you understand if OIT is right for you or your child.

2

Comprehensive Allergy Testing

We use skin prick tests, specific IgE blood tests, and when needed, supervised oral food challenges to precisely identify your allergens and their severity. This thorough testing ensures your treatment plan targets the right allergens at the right dosage.

3

Personalized Treatment Plan

Based on your test results, age, and medical history, your allergist designs a custom OIT protocol. No two patients are the same — your plan is tailored specifically to you. We'll walk you through exactly what to expect at every stage.

4

Daily At-Home Treatment

You'll receive allergy tubes containing clinically tested allergenic extracts. Take them daily at home — you can consume them directly or mix them with your favorite food. Regular check-ins with your allergist (in person or virtual) ensure everything is progressing safely.

5

Food Freedom

Most patients complete their induction program in 3 to 6 months. As your tolerance builds, you'll gradually be able to eat foods that once caused fear and anxiety. Our team continues to support you through maintenance to ensure lasting results.
